New York, NY – pymetrics, an AI hiring and soft skills platform, announced its support for a Congressional resolution calling for a national artificial intelligence (AI) strategy recently introduced by Representatives Will Hurd (R-TX) and Robin Kelly (D-IL).

“We applaud the leadership of Representatives William Hurd and Robin Kelly on a bipartisan resolution that sets forth a national strategy for embracing the potential for artificial intelligence across our economy,” said Dr. Frida Polli, CEO and cofounder of pymetrics. “We particularly appreciate the position that AI can be developed to promote fair and ethical solutions to societal challenges. When it comes to hiring, carefully designed artificial intelligence has the power to do what human decision-making cannot: evaluate candidates on a more objective basis and show fairness with regard to demographic differences based on categories like race, gender, and socio-economic status. But we know that we cannot rely on each and every company to do the right thing. That is why pymetrics supports efforts to ensure the United States continues to lead not just in AI innovation, but also in establishing policies and regulations that lead to the advancement of de-biased algorithms.”

Dr. Polli has been one of the leading voices on how to design and implement ethical AI. Under her leadership, pymetrics has joined coalitions in New York City and California that aim to provide greater transparency into hiring assessments, often built using AI, that help employers evaluate job candidates.
